Gary William Brown, GWB Original Artworks

I was born in Southern California in 1946, a first level baby boomer. My father had served in what was then the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war ended my parents married and moved from San Diego to Ontario, California. Dad was a Master Watch Maker, Jeweler and Goldsmith and mom was a Banker for Bank of America.

I learned to work hard and had my first part time job at 14 working at an Olive Packing plant. The plant checked with the school regularly to see that my grades stayed up if I was to keep my job.

I lived close enough to the mountains that, as a young teen, I could ride my bike up to the foothills and hike up the stream and fish on any weekend. I loved the mountains, so when I started dating, the mountains seemed the perfect place to go for a date. The girls I knew seemed to agree, so a hike and a picnic was a perfect date (and it didn’t cost much).

Family vacations were either at the beach or in the mountains, so I developed a love for both. From my earliest memory, nature and beautiful scenery was a constant in my life.

I served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman attached to the Marine Corps. After serving, I was an EMT for a time before becoming a law enforcement officer. I have worked in many fields during my life and have enjoyed all that I have learned.

I’m married to the most amazing woman in the world. Susan supports me in whatever I do (that’s right, moral and legal) and makes me feel like I’m better than I really am. She always lifts me up to be more than I believe I can be. Together, we have six children that we couldn’t be more proud of, and they have given us 20 grandchildren, and still counting.

Life has had ups and downs for our family, just like all families have, but the love and closeness we have helps us get through it all. The peace that brings is what I hope to share with people through my art.
